Tallinn Music Week is an annually held music industry conference and showcase festival gathering an impressive number of regional and worldwide musical talent and industry players since 2009. TMW brings together around 800 music industry professionals, more than 200 local and international acts and an audience of around 20 000 to the capital of Estonia for three days of music.

TMW continues to present a multi-genre approach, offering a balanced mix of local headliners and up-and-coming names, cutting-edge acts and trendsetters from all contemporary genres, from avant-garde to pop and classical music. The festival programme is put together on the basis of artist applications by a broad team of local music experts. Applications from all music genres and scenes are welcome.

The festival’s role as a significant platform for emerging acts around the world has grown steadily. In 2014 TMW presented 78 international artists from 21 different countries. Among the acts who have successfully tested their breakthrough potential at TMW and moved on to bigger stages are Danish dark rockers Get Your Gun and Belarusian cold wave group Super Besse, to mention a few, whilst some more established acts, like Berlin art pop trio Ballet School, Danish electro extraordinaires Rangleklods, or Congolese-Finnish hip hop act Gracias, have secured a solid local fanbase and found their way back to the region on several occasions.

TMW’s two-day music industry conference with its top international and local speakers, traditionally covers a wide range of topics from local cultural policy and regional cooperation to hands-on artist management tips and global music business models. Each year’s conference also hosts a “celebrity talk” with a music industry legend. Estonian president’s, Toomas Hendrik Ilves’ traditional opening speech of Tallinn Music Week is always a special treat to look forward to. Throughout TMW’s existence, an impressive number of well-known international experts have participated in the conference panel discussions, among them Seymour Stein, the legendary founder and president of Sire Records (Madonna, Ramones), influential managers Petri Lunden (Cardigans, Europe), Edward Bicknell (Dire Straits, Scott Walker, Bryan Ferry), Peter Jenner (Pink Floyd) and many others.

Tallinn Music Week also includes sub-programmes such as TMW City Stage programme – free intimate pop-up concerts and special sets from festival acts in Tallinn’s various cafés, galleries, bookshops and other public places; TMW Talks – series of music-related public interviews and discussions in cozy cafes of Tallinn, and TMW Tastes – a handpicked selection of the town’s best restaurants, cafés and eateries that offer special menus and discounts to festival guests.

Artist applications will be accepted and the special “Early Bird” offer for the delegate’s pass runs until 1st December 2014.
